Opening the “Coffee House”

Good morning everyone! I am very happy to inaugurate today a new section of nonlinearlight.com: the Coffee House !

It will be an interactive and interdisciplinary section where I will not write anything (!!!), but other researchers will present and discuss their works and ideas.

Coffee Houses played an important role in 17th and 18th English culture as informal centres of scientific, philosophical, economical, and political ideas exchange and debate.

Much more modestly, I would be happy if my Coffee House could offer a small contribution to the circulation, understanding, and cross-fertilising mixing of interesting scientific ideas!

I am very glad to welcome the first guest of the Coffee House: a good friend and valuable scientist, Stella Civelli, giving an insight on Optical fiber communications using the nonlinear Fourier transform and describing her contribution to this exciting research area.

You are all very welcome to enter the Coffee House !
